Physical DescriptionGoblet. Colorless non-lead glass; blown, cut, engraved. Straight-sided, conical bowl, with waisted section near the bottom; the upper part of the bowl divided into four panels, separated by cut vertical ribs; the panels with minutely engraved allegorical scene, one with a seated woman holding a cornucopia, from which a bishop's mitre, crown, cross, staff, rosary, etc., are falling, inscribed above in a ribband "Ach wenss imer (?) so wer" and in the space below, "Lauffe gutte dinge"; in the next panel, a flying bird mirrored in a framed looking glass, leaning on a palm tree, with a radiant sun emerging from clouds above, other trees and birds, inscribed above "Aufeichtig (?) ohne falsch"; the next panel with a hand holding a watering can, emerging from clouds at the left, a sun emerging from clouds at the right, and two rows of flowering plants below, inscribed above "Ehrlige + leutte"; on the fourth panel, two dogs tugging at a stick, a sun emerging from clouds above, inscribed "herr + nachbar"; above three panels, a formal scrollwork border; below the scenes, formal scrollwork with pendant swags or minute scenes of buildings; diamond-faceted band below the panels; the waisted section with a band of polished oval facets separated by pairs of grooves; diamond-faceted band below, with a band of facets at the base of the bowl; two mereses above a solid inverted baluster stem, with cut circular panels at the top, cut swags, and panel cutting below; capstan at the base of the stem; circular foot with engraved band of triangular elements at the rim on top, and a ring of cut petals on the bottom.
