Physical DescriptionPitcher with Palmette Scroll. Transparent purple; opaque turquoise (trail). Body and foot blown in mold with two vertical sections; applied. Ewer: pear-shaped. Rim has pouring lip and rounded edge; wall begins just below rim; upper part is straight and splayed, then curves down, out, and in; foot is hollow and slightly splayed, with low kick; pontil mark circular (D. 1.2 cm). Thin trail wound three times around top of wall, after which handle was applied to upper wall, drawn up and out, bent out horizontally and up vertically and in, and attached to outside of rim, with small thumb-rest. Lower wall is decorated in relief with one register containing scroll of six palmettes, each with five leaves; ends of scroll are separated by vertical row of two dots above triangular motif. Faint mold seams are visible on lower wall, and on side and underside of foot.
