Interpretive Notes
Real or fake? Many objects, like this brush holder, produced in the 1800s and 1900s feature false imperial marks. As the power of the Qing court weakened, makers looking for quick profit engraved the marks of past emperors onto their wares. Experts reckon that most historical glass objects on the market today have these misleading marks.
Physical DescriptionBrush Holder (黃套紅玻璃螭龍雲紋筆筒). Opaque lemon-yellow and red glasses; mold-blown, cased, cameo-carved.
