Physical DescriptionColorless lead glass; blown, cut, pressed, acid-etched. This object is in three parts which are meant to come apart but it does not; (A) a blown bowl of thin glass in a spherical form with everted rim; acid-etched with a row of acanthus leaves below rim and dolphins; cattails and other aquatic plants around bowl which ends in an applied ring and peg which is sheathed in metal; (B) a pressed glass collar which covers the peg of the bowl and the socket into which it fits; (C) a hollow pressed glass base which has a cylindrical socket supported by four dolphins tails up and joined; on a circular plinth with cut scallops around foot rim; lower surface ground and polished; entirely acid-treated for a matte or "satin" finish.
