Physical DescriptionClear very bubbly glass with few impurities and with green tinge; free-blown, gilded and enameled. (a) Wide flaring foot with thickened rim, inverted baluster stem resting on two mereses and supporting the oval bowl sitting on a disk; (b) set- in domed cover with composite merese-and-knop finial; on the bowl three medallions in greenish enamel, each showing an allegorical female personifying geometry or astronomy, war or virtue (?), and fertility (?), each medallion being framed by gilded bands with disks which have alternating red and green enameled pearls; identical bands frame gilded acanthus friezes at top and bottom of bowl, acanthus ornaments between the medallions, circuits of white pearls at bottom and top of bowl; gilded acanthus circuits on foot and cover.
