Physical DescriptionColorless, transparent dark blue non-lead glass; blown, pad- overlay, engraved, silvered, gilt, enameled. Large, conical bowl, on stout drawn tapered stem; the rim gilt; pad of transparent dark blue glass on the side, engraved to form a multi-pointed star, silvered (now oxidized black) to resemble a medal; oval frame in the center, inscribed in gilt "SUUM CUI[Q]UE" and tied fronds of foliage below, with a raised heraldic black eagle with gilt eye and claws, holding a scepter and orb, in the center; on the reverse, the gilt crowned monogram "FWR" (the monogram possibly originally silvered); heavy conical foot; polished pontil mark.Provenance
