Physical DescriptionClear glass with minute bubbles; free-blown and engraved, with applied and tooled decoration. Spreading foot with slight pontil mark, stem consisting of a solid knop flanked by stemmed double and triple mereses, round funnel bowl; set-in cover with cushioned knop finial flanked by triple mereses and supporting a second smaller round funnel bowl with set-in core having a squat pear-shaped finial resting on a flattened knop and a merese; the bottoms of the two bowls and the tops of the two covers have applied and vertically pinched bands to form a gadrooned decoration the ribs of which end in nipples; both bowls bear crudely engraved bands of shallow stylized leaf sprays and bushes, each band including one bird, concentric wavy borders and simple leaf wreaths around bowls and covers.Provenance
