Physical DescriptionClear glass with many impurities, especially at the lower section, and many small bubbles, slight grey tinge; free-blown, enameled, and gilded. Almost cylindrical body with high pushed up base having rough pontil mark and applied foot ring; enamel decoration: double headed eagle in black and white with crucifix; Christ on a green crucifix, with a green crown of thorns and yellow halos; multicolored coats-of-arms of the parts of the Holy Roman Empire; on the end of the wings two flaming symbols the upper body on the reverse the brazen serpent in blue and yellow with yellow crown on a brown cross, below rim a gilded band accompanied by four rows of red, white, and blue pearls; underneath this band: "DAS HEILIG ROEMISCH REICH MIT SAMPT SEINEN GLIDERN"; underneath for the brazen serpent the initials "L (?) S" (for Shurer ?).Provenance
