Physical DescriptionPlaque with Flowers. Translucent greyish medium blue glass matrix, bubbly, irregular backing of turbid yellow-green with stripe of amethyst, canes of opaque white, opaque yellow, opaque red, translucent yellow-green and green glass; mosaic glass or millefiori technique, repolished recently. Roughly horizontal section of an inlay, bottom surface apparently intact. The major design element a central thistle-like flower, globular green sepal, slight indication of scale pattern in translucent blue (?), feathery thistle radiate out in yellow with white tips, long saw-tooth leaf, on either side of this central yellow thistle is a smaller thistle shape flower with similar leaves and sepal but with red crown rays cased in yellow, the ends are rounded; on either side an irregular petal element of a red center with yellow-white, turbid white and red elements, above each is a star-like flower, yellow-centered with colorless greenish dots and six white pointed leaves; this motif is repeated above a second time as well as a yellow-green element cased with yellow and surmounted by a yellow-green oval cased with a thick yellow band with a single row of amethyst dots.
