Physical DescriptionClear heavy glass with yellowish tinge and minute bubbles; free- blown and enameled. Straight-sided body slightly tapering to slightly concave neck with large circular pontil mark; on the obverse a view of the Ochsenkopf with the usual symbols, including a three towered church on top, below the ox's head against stones; again below a chain with a lock; on the left and right two heads of stags; below four rivers flowing out; on the left a bear; on the right a fox-like animal jumping out of the mountain; below rim an ornamental border including a yellow band with a dark oval and diamond band accompanied above and below by U-shaped white lines; between ornamental band and the main decoration a cloud frieze; around the mountain the following inscriptions: "1694"; "Mein, Sall, Eger, Naab" on the reverse the inscription: "Der fichtelberg bin Ich genand/In obern francken woll bekand/Wier Schiffe reiche wasser auss mir kommen frei,/fein silber golt ertz Und Bley,/Den Mein lasz Ich in franken ein,/Hergegen bekomme Ich da den Wien,/die Saal die lass ich in Sachsen,/als da ist mir die frucht gewachssen,/die eger die lass Ich insz Bohmerland,/da kompt mir dass Vieh wieder zu Hand,/die Naab die lass ich durch die pfalss,/dargegen last Sie mir/wieder dass Salz./VIVAT MAIN PATRON".Provenance
