Physical DescriptionDouble-Walled Beaker. Colorless non-lead glass; blown, cut, sandwiched; gold leaf. Tapered, straight-sided form; cut vertical panels on the exterior; double-walled, the outer sleeve ending below the rim; gold leaf decoration between, an oval panel depicting a full- length figure of a male saint, holding a crucifix in his arms, inscribed above, "S. LVDOVICVS."; foliate scrolls and flowers around the frame; on the reverse, an elaborate formal foliate scroll with putti; formal band of foliage around the base; flat, polished disk set into the bottom, enclosing a gold leaf crowned mirror monogram "AV" with palm fronds below; transparent red resin at the back.Provenance
