Physical DescriptionTumbler. Colorless non-lead glass; free-blown. Double-walled, slender cylindrical form; diamond-point engraved and with set-in lacquer and gold-leaf-bordered monogram-medallion; at top, band with gold-rope-bordered flower and leaf circlet on red lacquer background and between narrow gold bands; on one side, set-in large gold leaf medallion with "GP" within leaf-rope wreath and floral garland with two tiny birds flanking crown and on red lacquer background engraved through silver foil on back of medallion: "Der guten Schwiegermana ehrfurchtsvoll gewidmet von ihren dankbaren Schwiegersohne. Mildner fec a'Gutenbrunn 1806"; between border at rim and band of cut ovals at bottom, diamond point engraved spiral band just below top band and above leaf and flower festoon; tiny flower in wide-spaced rows on rest of glass; on base, circle of ovals, around ground and polished pontil, forming a sunflower-like motif.
