Physical DescriptionJar (Amphoriskos). Opaque white glass, bubbly with large streamers and much stone, dull surface in places, patches of heavy pitting, applied trails of translucent deep amethyst; core-formed, trail-decorated and tooled. Rounded rim flared out from short almost cylindrical neck, heavy trail of amethyst applied at rim, wall spreads out into elongated ovoid body, heavy trail of amethyst applied at shoulder wound three times, continues unevenly nine times on body down to base; all trails are marvered into the surface, but only those on the body are dragged alternately up and down thirty times, the upward motion creating deep furrows and thus a heavily ribbed pattern; two heavy coils of opaque white are applied beneath the rim and pulled down to the juncture of the neck and shoulder to form opposing handles; the vessel terminates in a blunt point with an applied button of white and a small blob of amethyst on the underside.
