Physical DescriptionTransparent pale bluish green glass; pink, yellow, green, blue, and black impasto; gold and silver paint. Blown; painted with unidentified impasto and with gold and silver pigments; possibly fired at low temperature to fix impasto. Goblet with truncated conical bowl. Rim plain, with rounded lip; wall tapers, then bulges slightly before curving in at bottom; stem very short and hollow; base conical, with broad tubular edge made by folding;underside pushed up through stem, forming dome at center of floor. Wall decorated with continuous frieze of four figures painted in thick impasto, with outlines and details apparently in cuerda seca technique, with faint gilding (clockwise): (A) moves to left; he wears long-sleeved upper garment and trousers, both green and he extends arms to proffer blue bowl piled with large pink fruit to (B); (B) kneels to right; he wears yellow ankle-length coat with long sleeves and he extends his left arm toward fruit; (C) kneels to left, but with head turned to right; he has green ankle-length coat, apparently closed at waist with belt or sash, and green turban; his arms are extended to right and left; beside him, unidentified green object; (D) stands frontally, with his head turned to right and his right arm extended as if pointing to (A); his clothing is black and it either resembles that of (A), with trousers, or of (B) and (C), with ankle-length coat; he has wide turban. Glass is smeared and streaked with thin film of silvery substance.Provenance
