Physical DescriptionColorless non-lead glass; blown, engraved. Ovoid bowl with decorative border of repeated polished ovals in rectangular frames; engraved scene of two men in arms, one holding a shield, clasping hands; with diamond-point engraved buildings in distance, in a circular panel with scrolled framework, with leaves, swags, and fronds; on reverse, the engraved inscription "Bist du mein Treuer Freund/ders Redlich mit mir Meind/bleib du Jonathan Rein/Ich will dein David seyn"; the thick bowl base contains a ring of eight air bubbles surrounding a single bubble; stem composed of a straight section of four-spiral air twist above an air-beaded ball knop (eight bubbles in a ring around a single bubble), and a straight section of a four-spiral air twist; conical foot with engraved wreath of foliage and flowers; rough pontil mark.
