Physical DescriptionColorless non-lead glass; blown, engraved. Large, bell-shaped or thistle bowl with band of polished circles below the rim; the sides richly engraved, a crowned circular reserve with scrolled framing, enclosing a shield with coat of arms demi-eagle and bends (arms of the city of Nuremberg); joined with floral swags to a minor monogram "MJ" in a crowned circular panel with scrolled framing; engraved cross-hatched band with pendants below; base of bowl solid, enclosing nine air bubbles, arranged in a circle of eight around a single bubble; stem composed of a flattened disk above a large inverted baluster enclosing multiple air beads; conical foot with engraved panels of diapering, scrolls, and stylized flowers on the upper surface; rough pontil mark.Provenance
