Interpretive NotesThe two-dimensional rendering of the raised diamonds on this beaker may have been inspired by mold-blown Venetian vessels showing this distinct pattern in relief. An umbo vase in The J. Paul Getty Museum, Los Angeles, is decorated in this fashion. Similar patterns were also painted on buildings in Tyrol, including the lower facades of Ambras Castle.
