Physical DescriptionColorless lead glass; blown, engraved. Goblet with ground and polished rim, bell-shaped bowl with three pointed lobes of hochsnitt engraving extending from waisted solid stem, each lobe has overall abstract vegetal patterning and a nude child playing with an animal (bird, fawn, long-tailed furry quadruped), small bud separates each lobe; clear part of bowl above lobes has overall patterning of tiny polished ovoid punties giving the appearance of stars; stem has band of relief carved block letters "EDEL SEI DER MENSCH/HILFREICH UND GUT" within a band directly below the bowl; remainder of stem and slightly flared foot carved with narrow vertical rows of engraving; base ground and polished flat; no pontil; inscribed at base of one small bud: "W.V.EIFF".Provenance
