Physical DescriptionColorless non-lead glass; blown, cut zwischengoldglas technique. (a) Straight-sided, tapered bowl with rounded bottom; panel cut; double-walled bowl containing gilt decoration between of a crowned coat of arms with a rampant crowned lion brandishing a sword and holding four arrows in his paws, with lion supporters, and a ribbon inscribed "HOLLAND/SEELAND/FRIESLAND/GRONINGEN/ OVER.VSSEL/VTRECIIT (sic)/GELD ERLAND" and with associated coats of arms, with gilt foliate medallion with checkered center in the base; stem composed of facet-cut flattened knop, merese, panel-cut inverted baluster, and capstan; circular foot with ring of cut ovals on the underside. (b) Flat-domed circular shape with inset, tapered flange; panel-cut sides and top, with inset circular medallion enclosing a circular medallion of leaves, fruit and scrollwork; finial composed of pointed faceted knob above faceted flattened knop.
