Physical DescriptionBeaker (Zwischengoldglas). Clear glass and gold leaf with double walls; free-blown, cut, gilt and enameled. One conical beaker has been put into another conical beaker of slightly larger diameter with set in base; beaker outside cut in 18 panels; the outside of the inner beaker has enameled gold leaf decoration ("Zwischengold" technique), a battle scene between almost nude "Germanic" people: men fighting with swords, spears, arrows, and clubs, two men on horses, mourning and dying women and children (on inside of beaker gold, on outside brown, yellow, red and blue colors); at rim a gilt ring with the number "66" above a band of gilt threads and semi-ovals, at bottom a gilt band of oak leaves and acorns and threads above a gilt ring; the base of the inner beaker shows at the inside a scene in gold and silver, a nude, sitting woman, with two children between her knees and holding a shield, standing in front of spears and standards; at left a fireplace made of rocks with a smoking pot (a symbol of Germanic strength or of Germany); the set in base at the outside is ruby red and shows again the number "66".
