Physical DescriptionColorless glass, with colorless, translucent deep blue and translucent red canes, and multicolored specks, cased with transparent pink; container and lid made separately, each from preformed canes applied to gather which then was blown into mold, rolled in powdered glass and cased; ground, polished, and drilled; glass and metal parts assembled with adhesive. (a) Container: shallow, cylindrical. Rim plain, with flat top that is ground and polished; short cylindrical neck; horizontal shoulder, covered with gold, below which wall, twice thickness of neck, descends vertically to bottom; plain base, underside of which has faint concentric marks imparted by mold. Wall and base decorated with continuous pattern of colorless, blue, and red canes which spiral out from middle of base; they are also speckled and cased with pink (from outside, effect is similar to aventurine). Near top of wall, shallow drilled depression, D. 0.15 cm. Three small paper labels on base: "6476", "F" and "9". (b) Lid: cylindrical, with flattened domical top. Formed and decorated as container, with rim also covered with gold, and with drilled depression, comparable with depression in wall, near bottom.Provenance
