Physical DescriptionClear glass with minute bubbles and dark tint; glass slightly dull through heavy wear marks, spots through weathering; free- blown and enameled. Rectangular body, concave base with rough pontil mark, sloping shoulder, short neck with pewter mouth; one panel shows the coat-of-arms of an ecclesiastic: two erected white hares on a blue shield with yellow rim, flanking a golden five-pointed star, black and white crest, the center of which bears a turquoise-blue and golden morion surmounted by another erected hare, above a black flat bishops hat with cords surmounted a white ribbon with the initials: "L - F - L"; below the shield the date: "1683"; the reverse side bears a medallion with John the Baptist in a blue dress and with his attributes sitting near a brook, above the inscription: "S. IOANNES BAPTISTA"; each of the two remaining panels shows a multicolored freely painted bunch of flowers, each with three large blossoms in yellow, red, white and blue; on the shoulder a gilded band framed by a frieze of volute-shaped motifs.Provenance
