Physical DescriptionCovered Goblet. Colorless non-lead glass; blown, cut, enameled, gilded. Bell- shaped bowl with cut, gilded rim, panel-cut and lavender- enamel-outlined sides; panels engraved with a series of arches, and scenes of a king, kneeling angel, birth of Jesus, and other scenes from the life of Jesus, ending with the Crucifixion, and inscribed "Das Gebeth des Herrn." on one panel, with engraved inscription of the Lord's Prayer in the panels below: "Vater unser./Geheiliget werde dein Name./Zukomme uns dein Reich./Dein Wille geschehe./Gib uns unser tag-liches Brod./Vergib uns unsere Schuld. Fuhre uns nicht in Versuchung/ Erlöse uns vom Aibel Amen."; bulbous band below; panel-cut stem; foot panel cut, ending in a series of concave edges alternating with points; the underside star and fine- diamond cut. (b) Domed, panel-cut shape, with each panel outlined in purple enamel; heavily gilded rim with floral engraving; panel-cut ovoid finial, heavily gilded, and with engraved flower heads and cross-hatched lambrequin.
