Physical DescriptionColorless non-lead glass; mold-blown, cut, stained, enameled, gilded. Flared, cylindrical bowl, on a solid, disk-shaped foot; the rim cut and chamfered on the inside, gilded; horizontal band of amber-tinted stain below the rim on the outside, bearing a repeated pattern of stylized foliate motifs, bordered by gilded lines; a wide band below, with an enameled undulating vine with pink roses alternating with blue forget-me-nots and gilded arrows, bordered with a band of repeated arcs above and below; another wide amber-stained band below, with a foliate border at top, matching that at the rim, above a running script inscription, "Ehret die Frauen! sie flechten und weben, himmlische Rosen ins irdische Leben." and a lower border of repeated arcs with pendant sets of triple dots; two horizontal gilded lines above the foot; repeated cut vertical grooves on the vertical side of the foot, outlined with gilding; the bottom of the foot polished flat, with a cut and amber-stained star in the center.Provenance
