Physical DescriptionBeaker (Ranftbecher). Colorless non-lead glass; mold-blown, cut, enameled, gilded, stained. Flared, cylindrical bowl, on a solid, disk-shaped foot; the rim cut and chamfered on the inside, gilded; gilded horizontal line below the rim, with entwined foliate vine; on the front, a rectangular panel, framed with a yellow-orange stained band, outlined with gilded lines and decorated inside with stylized foliate and floral motifs; polychrome enameled scene inside, with a large church in the distance (the Karlskirche in Vienna), flanked by other buildings, with a park and people in the foreground, signed "AK" in the bottom right corner; inscribed in gilded script on the reverse, "Die Karlskirche / in / Wien"; cut repeated vertical facets, each stained yellow-orange, on the side of the foot; the bottom polished flat with cut and yellow-orange stained star.
