Physical DescriptionColorless, transparent blue glass, gold leaf; blue disk made by blowing; gold leaf applied to upper surface of disk and decorated by scratching and removing unwanted parts; gather of colorless glass inflated against decorated surface and formed into vessel; foot ring applied. Bowl: rim, wall, and foot ring colorless; base colorless over blue. rim outsplayed, with rounded lip; wall curves in, then descends almost vertically; base flat, with slight dome at center of floor and applied foot ring; pontil mark, partly removed by grinding. Floor decorated in gold, with scratched details: roundel with wide border embellished with concentric circle enclosing continuous zigzag; inside border, two semicircular registers divided by horizontal band. Above, two beardless busts wearing tunic and pallium of "omophorion" type, frontal, with heads turned slightly inward, flanking Chi-rho monogram with thickened terminals surrounded by two leaf sprays and two dots; inscriptions identify figure on left as PASTO/R and figure on right as DAMA/S. Below, two similar busts and monogram; inscriptions identify figure on left as PET/RV/S and figure on right as PAV/LV/S.
