Physical DescriptionCovered Pokal or Goblet. Colorless glass; free-blown, cut and engraved. (a) Goblet of non-lead glass. Deep round-funnel bowl; composite stem -- hollow flattened ball knop between double-blade wafers, inverted baluster with large tear --, wide sloping circular foot with plain rim and small rough pontil mark; elaborate engraved decoration: on bowl, stylized floral design on reverse, and, on obverse, long scrolled leaves and sprays of small leaves, flanking a large cartouche containing rayed sun at top, two birds above pierced heart, and flower sprays at lower sides, ring of cut discs around bottom; on foot, scrolled leaves and sprays of small leaves. (b) Cover of lead glass. Set-in high domed cover with tall knopped finial; simple foliaged scrolls engraved on dome, facet cutting on knops of finial.Provenance
