Physical DescriptionTumbler, Ranftbecher. Colorless non-lead glass; free-blown, cut, gilded, stained, and painted. Fashioned from single gather with straight sides flaring slightly at beveled rim gilded inside and out, and tapering slightly to projecting straight-sided foot-base having sides cut in triangular flutes and outlined in gold; ground and polished pontil mark; decoration: on front, on yellow (silver stain) octagonal (square with chamfered corners) panel and painted in black and grays, a rainbow arc, cherub with laurel wreath and olive branch upraised, and dove of peace with olive sprig in beak, against a background of clouds, panel bordered in gold flower-and-leaf band; below large panel, "La Paix" (The Peace) on small panel bordered by gold-edged yellow (silver stain) band; at top, extending from panel, three pairs of crossed laurel sprays; signed on base, engraved initials "A K" in triangles formed by flutes and in line with space between first and second group of leaves at left of crossed stems in middle spray.
