Physical DescriptionSnuff Bottle with Stopper and Stand. Black glass with aventurine glass spots, metal, cork, ivory, paper, tan fabric with purple, green, and cream decorations; blown, cold-worked, gilt. (a) Flattened, ovoid form, with short, slightly flared neck, the rim flat, the inside ground for a stopper and spoon; gently rounded shoulders and sides; oval foot ring, recessed within, with four incised Chinese characters. (b) Domed gilt metal button top, with raised flower on top, and scrollwork on the sides, rounded rim; tapered cork shank, with short ivory spoon with oval bowl and short handle; the bowl covered with a small piece of paper, inscribed with Chinese characters “乾隆年制 Qianlong nianzhi” in ink. (c) Fabric-covered stand, with oval, recessed top, molded sides, and oval base, covered with paper on the underside; the fabric of tan color, with decorations in purple, green and cream.
