Physical DescriptionBrown textile, black paper, brass; turned metal, fabric and paper-covered wood. (a) Rectangular box, with slightly domed lid; covered with stamped paper; loop on the front, missing hook closure; lined with dark brown velvet, the top concave, the bottom with depressions to hold the scales and weights; narrow white paper strips outline the edges. (b) Two circular concave brass pans, each suspended by three green cords, from the ends of a shaped brass bar, with pointed-oval ends, brass S-hooks; a thin, tapered, vertical wire mounted in the center, ending in a tiny ball finial; two short lengths of tiny iron bars in the center, extending to the sides, of triangular cross-section, passing through holes in a loose brass U-shaped arm, with pointed oval ends; the top painted, with wire S-hook. (b) Flat, circular form, with short length of wire on top; stamped "2/2/AS/LOUIS" and maker's mark, script "GZ" in an oval. (c) Similar form with chamfered sides, a short rounded wire stub on top; stamped "2/ LOUIDO[R]". (d) Similar form; stamped "1/½/1/S/ LOUIS" and maker's mark, script "GZ" in an oval. (e) Similar form; stamped "1/CARLIN". (f) Similar form, stamped "1/½/1/AS/LOUIS" and maker's mark, script "GZ" in an oval. (g) Similar form, stamped "1/2/AS/LOUISDO[R]". (h) Similar form, stamped "1/DUCAT". (i) Similar form, stamped "1/B/DUC" and maker's mark, script "GZ" in an oval.
