Physical DescriptionColorless and transparent red non-lead glass; blown, cut, engraved. (a) Conical bowl with rounded base; bowl engraved with horizontal lines above and below oval framed panels enclosing quatrefoils, with engraved scenes within: a blindfolded putto, led by a dog, carrying a walking stick, inscribed "Die treu fuhret mich zu dier hien/ein" above; on the other, a deep, polished heart containing a tiny portrait of a woman, above crossed sprays of flowers, and a landscape with buildings, inscribed "so lang ich leb so bin ich dein" above; panels of large, elegant flowers and foliage fill the space between; three disks above a faceted inverted baluster stem enclosing multiple spiral red threads; two disks at the base of the stem; circular foot with engraved foliate wreath; rough pontil mark. (b) Domed shape with folded rim and inset brim; engraved berried foliate wreath on the shoulder; pointed finial enclosing multiple spiral red threads mounted on two disks; rough pontil mark inside.
