Physical Description"New York" Covered Vase from "The United States in Crystal" series with Stand and Book. (Aab) Vase and lid. Colorless glass; blown, cut, engraved. Slightly flaring cylindrical bowl rounding at base to hollow flaring stem, solid circular foot. Bowl engraved with figures surrounding hand with torch of Statue of Liberty with "New York" above. Lid: domed shape with solid tapering cylindrical finial with air trap. (B) Rectangular hinged box. Red leather with gold border on lid, red velvet and satin interior. Satin marked with gold "Steuben Crystal" surrounding snowflake. Brass latches. (C) Display stand. Square covered in brown leather with silver presentation plate "Presented to / George Van Gorder / upon the occasion of his retirement / from the Board of Directors / and in recognition of forty three years / of devoted and outstanding service to / McKessons and Robbins / July 1967". (D) Book. Red leather, velvet, gilt, photo, paper. "George Van Gorder" in gilt on front cover.Provenance
