Physical DescriptionCarafe in "Comet" Pattern. Colorless, lead glass; blown, cut; spherical body with neck flaring out at top, cut and polished rim, neck cut in eight vertical panels intersected by two groups of three horizontal lines, body has four large cut hobstars with prisms swirling up to the right side of each. Sunburst cut on base, acid-stamped J. Hoare & Co. / Corning / 1853 circle mark on edge of base.
