Physical DescriptionComparatively heavy clear glass with many minute bubbles and slight grey tinge; wear marks at base; free-blown and enameled. Straight-sided tapering beaker with flat base having rough pontil mark; enamel decoration: on the body in multicolored enamel, predominantly blue, green, white and red-brown an elaborate hunting scene; a hunter, with a blue coat, sword and holding a gun in his left hand is blowing into a small trumpet; to the left a dog pursuing three stags; on the back there is a white net attached to two trees, one with the blue and the other with a yellow trunk; green ground ornament, in the empty spaces green grass tufts and spiral-like ornaments in green and the line; flanking the hunter is the inscription: "Anno 1714. Viel Jahr, viel gefahr." (Many years much danger.); below rim a yellow and red band with a black ornament frieze of ovals and diamonds, the band being accompanied by two U-shaped friezes in white.Provenance
