Physical DescriptionColorless non-lead glass, black ink, multicolor paint, metallic gold; outline in reverse in black ink, enamel painted. Rectangular vertical reverse painting depicting stylized flat graphic drawing of front-facing female bust; background is bright pink with black border edged with narrow repeating pattern of black on tan, in foreground a female of West African descent wears a wrapped head covering of blue cloth with white, yellow, and red small dots, her shoulders curve downward and are covered in a blue dress with large red dots (white and black centers), each red dot surrounded by small yellow dots, her black hair is arranged in two knots at the side of her head and are decorated with stylized flowers or berries with red dot centers, on her forehead hangs a blossom-shaped yellow ornament, yellow hanging earrings with red details, two strands of yellow beads (one short and small, the other is longer with larger beads) around her neck, longer necklace overlays stylized (cross-hatched) lace neck insert of dress; gold-toned frame, cardboard backing; lower left corner: "Dame/Gueye 93".Provenance
