Physical DescriptionColorless (greenish) non-lead glass; blown, trailed, enameled, gilt. Straight-sided, cylindrical form, curved inward at the rim; white and black enameled decoration, formal white bands on either side of a gilt band below the rim; trailed slender thread with white dots; figure of a woman, holding one child in her arms, two at her feet, inscribed in white, above, "CARITAS"; dated "16/79" at the sides; gilt squares with formal white spirals and black dots in pairs at either side; vases with large formal gilt and white and black enamel floral arrangements at either side of the handle; formal foliate wreath border in a ring at the bottom; applied flat strap "C" handle; trailed foot rim with white enamel dots, encased in a molded pewter rim; slight kick, rough pontil mark; thin, slightly domed pewter cover with molded rim, ball thumb latch, hinged to the top of the handle; scratched script "iR" inside the cover.Provenance
