Physical DescriptionClear glass with minute bubbles and impurities, surface dull through wear; wear marks at base and heavy wear marks at interior; free-blown and enameled. Straight-sided beaker with concave base having rough pontil mark; enamel decoration: on the obverse the representation of the Ochsenkopf, on top the head of an ox against a background of stones and a white and red church; underneath the ox a lock suspended from a chain, both in yellow; at the bottom four rivers flowing out of the mountain and labeled: "Saal, Eger Mayn, Naab"; along the edges of the mountain the heads of six animals including hare, stag, fawn, fox, a dog-like animal and an unidentifiable animal; on the reverse an inscription: "Der Fichtelberg bin Ich genanndt, In aller belt gahr wholbekandt, 4 Schiffreich wasser ausz mir kommen Frey, Hab Fein Gold. Silver Ertz und Bley. VIVAT! mein Herr Patron." (My name is Fichtelberg, well known all over the world, four waters emerge from me on which many boats sail, have fine gold and silver and/or lead. Long live my patron.); along rim a white festoon line with blossom-like motifs in blue, green and yellow, underneath red dots and a broad yellow band accompanied by two white lines.
