Interpretive Notes
The painted and gilded decoration on this goblet imitates semiprecious stone set with gold mounts.
Physical DescriptionColorless glass; blown, tooled, applied, painted, gilded. Conical bowl, stem with ball knop and inverted baluster, cover with inset brim and pine-cone-shaped finial. Foot, bowl, and cover with marbled cold paint and gilt borders between two glass walls. The stem and finial, the base of the bowl, the underside of the foot and the insides of bowl and cover are gilded on the outside glass surface.
