Physical DescriptionCased with black over opaque white, one complex circular cane composed three complex canes in black matrix; each complex cane is cased with opaque white and consists of many canes made from rods of opaque white, gray, pink, brown, yellow, blue, and black glasses; canes of varying shapes, sizes, and colors made by fusing monochrome rods; groups of canes assembled, fused, and miniaturized, by stages, then assembled to form three separate canes with portraits, each of which was cased; next, portrait canes were assembled, with other canes that formed matrix, into single complex cane that was fused, cased, and miniaturized; finished cane broken into short sections, each of which was ground and polished. Slice of exceptionally complex cane consisting of three canes arranged in triangular formation against black background, and cased with black over opaque white. All three canes are 0.3 cm in diameter, have light blue background, and are cased with opaque white. Upper cane bears bust of Victor Emanuel II shown frontally but with head turned half-right, wearing brown cape and deep blue uniform with white buttons, tassels, and lanyards, and light blue piping, and, around his neck, yellow ribbon or chain with red and white medallion. Cane at lower left bears bust of Cavour shown frontally, bespectacled and wearing patterned cravat, white shirt and deep blue jacket. Cane at lower right bears bust of Garibaldi shown frontally but with head turned slightly to left, wearing black or dark blue double-breasted tunic with high collar, epaulette on right shoulder, and lanyards, all in white with black and gray details.
