Glass Drinking Vessels Through the Centuries

Physical DescriptionAlmost colorless, with yellowish tinge. Blown; linear- and slant-cut. Beaker shaped like truncated cone. Rim plain; wall straight and tapering; base flat; trace of pontil mark. Wall has continuous frieze of irregular linear- and slant-cut decoration, which extends from about 2.5 cm below rim to bottom and consists of one register bordered by two horizontal grooves at top. Register is divided into equal panels by two pairs of vertical grooves. Each panel has, at center, large V-shaped motif with double outlines containing stylized bird standing in profile, facing right, and, on either side of V, standing bird facing side of panel.Provenance
