Physical DescriptionColorless non-lead glass; blown, cut, gilt. Tapered, straight- sided bowl, waisted at the base, with cut flutes; gilt rim; elaborate gilt scrolled border; elaborate gilt landscape scene of a man, seated, playing a guitar for a shepherdess, seated, holding a staff, with two sheep at her feet and side; another sheep at the man's right; stylized trees in the background; elaborate rococo scrolls and shells below and at the sides of the scene; gilt butterfly on the reverse; sloping foot with cut scalloped rim; rough pontil mark; two paper labels on the foot: one, circular, printed "SAMMLUNG/Dr. MAX STRAUSS/WIEN."; the other rectangular, with printed blue border, inscribed "1084" in ink.
