Physical DescriptionGrayish non-lead glass; machine-blown, sagged, enameled, gilded. Circular bowl with fluted rim. Gilt inscription around rim reads "FOR I AM OLDER THAN THE PYRAMIDS YET NEWER THAN TOMORROW'S UNBORN DAWN WITHAL THE MARKS OF TIME AFFECT ME NOT FOR I AM AGELESS"; within that, sides are enameled blue and filled with scenes of Egyptians, a microscope, a light bulb, pyrex, a rocket, test tubes, the atom and a grid superimposed on the globe, with dates from 1200 B.C. to 1961. A hand holding rods or blowpipes is in the center with another inscription around it, "I AM GLASS AND SO IN MODESTY I PROCLAIM I AM MAN'S INVALUABLE AND VERSATILE SERVANT". The reverse has a set of important dates in glass history in gilt. "Wolverine Glass Company" in script in center of bottom of base.Provenance
