Physical DescriptionClear glass with bubbles and slight yellowish tinge; free-blown, enameled and gilded. (a) Straight-sided beaker slightly tapering downwards to slightly concave base with rough pontil mark and applied foot ring; (b) flanged, domed cover with double knopped finial; enamel decoration: on the obverse in multi- colored enamel a large coat of arms with a rampant lion on a blue ground holding a section of a branch or trunk in its claws, facing to the left; to the right and left the two figures of a man and his wife, in elaborate costumes, and with initials: "H. H. I." and "L. B. W."; on the reverse a large flower stalk with seven blossoms, above: "ANNO 1624"; in the free spaces star-like ornaments in imitation of the diamond-shaped ornaments, accompanied by white spirals and dashes; below rim a gilded band followed by a red and a blue line, a row of white dots, a white interlaced band and a multicolored wreath, at the bottom a grass strip and a red line, on the foot ring white and blue dashes; on the cover a leaf and blossom wreath again accompanied by the interlaced band as well as the white dot line and a gilded band accompanied by two red lines, white and blue dashes on the flange; a multicolored petal wreath on the lower bulge, the finial is gilded and has a red border at the bottom.
