Physical DescriptionClear heavy glass with minute bubbles and impurities and slight grey tinge; free-blown, enameled and gilded. Almost cylindrical body with pushed up base having rough pontil mark, applied foot ring; enameled decoration: double headed Empire eagle in black and white with yellow halos and crucifix, Christ on a green cross, on the wings the multicolored coats of arms of parts of the Holy Roman Empire; on the reverse the brazen serpent in blue on a small brown cross, on the ends of the wings two flaming symbols; green grass tufts; above: "1585"; below rim a gilded band (gold rubbed off) with rosettes in white and blue dots alternating with single blue dots, the band accompanied by two red lines and two rows of white pearls; beneath the band: "DAS HEILLIG ROMISCH REICH MIT SAMPT SEINEN GLIEDER".Provenance
