Physical DescriptionAlmost colorless glass with green tinge; few bubbles; blown, with applied decoration. Rim rounded by fire-polishing; tapering neck; single trail wound three and one-quarter times round neck; slender pear-shape body; body decorated with tooled and stamped cross-hatched trails; two panels separated by vertical trails; each panel contains snake-like trail and bird; trail descends from top left, where it bifurcates, has been flattened and is cross-hatched, in reversed C-shaped zigzag curve toward right edge, and across lower part of panel to left, after which it was drawn in more or less horizontal zigzag to bottom right; intermittent tooling and stamping; bird, usually described as ibis- or stork-like, stands in reversed c of "snake", facing right, with long beak, small circular head, long neck, slender body and tail, and two stick-like legs, one forward and the other back; prominent cross-hatching; ; hollow conical foot with rounded edge made from separate gather; underside flat; pontil scar.
