Physical DescriptionGrey non-lead glass; blown, enameled, gilt. Tall, roughly cylindrical, straight-sided form, slightly incurved at the top; wide gilt band flanked by rows of white dots below the rim; the sides decorated with enameled figures of men, one crowned, seated on a dais, inscribed "* 1 * 5 * 9 * 0 *" above, holding an orb and scepter and with a shield bearing a two-headed eagle at his feet, flanked by seven standing men, the three on his right with ermine caps and robes, with shields at their feet, the four at the right wearing ermine caps (one, a crown), with shields at their feet; inscribed with the names of cities and states above ("Truer, Collen, Mentz/Behem, Pfaltz, Sachssen, Brandenburg"); inscribed above "Die romische kaiserliche Maigestatt [sic] Samptt Den Sieben Churfursten In irer kleidung amptt und Sitz. 1.5.9.0."; lengthy inscription in three panels below; stylized lily-of-the-valley, with green, blue and yellow leaves, on the reverse; trailed foot ring decorated with white enamel dashes; conical bottom with ring pontil scar.Provenance
