Physical DescriptionColorless (gray) non-lead glass; blown (sheet glass), polished, engraved. Flat, rectangular shape; the faces polished flat, the edges grozed and partly ground; one side engraved with a depiction of Adam and Eve and the Tree of Knowledge, with the nude figure of Adam seated on a hillock, holding an apple in his outstretched hand; the nude figure of Eve standing alongside; a large tree beside her, a snake encircling the trunk; branches with fruit; a seated monkey, two rabbits, a cat, a bear, and a hedgehog along with plants in the foreground and middle ground; two additional trees in the background at the left; inscribed in German letters at the right: "Und das weib nam und ass/und gab irem man auch da /von, und er ass.da wurden/ir beider augen auff ge /than/und worden gewar/das sie nacket waren.GEN. am.3.Cap. v.6."Provenance
