Interpretive Notes
This set was blown by John H. Leighton, son of Thomas Leighton, for his older daughter, Mary May. It was decorated in the company’s shops.
Physical DescriptionRuby over colorless, lead glasses; blown, cased, cut, gilt. (a) Powder box: flattened bulbous shape with eight panels cut through ruby to clear; cut trefoils and quatrefoils and gilt decoration; base ground and polished. (b) Lid: round ball knob, matching decoration with serrated cutting around rim.
