Interpretive NotesThis pattern was copied by T. G. Hawkes and Company from the one developed by Christian Dorflinger and exhibited at the Centennial Exposition in Philadelphia in 1876. The blanks may be from Dorflinger's factory in White Mill and since the two companies worked closely together, Hawkes certainly had permission to copy the pattern.
