Physical DescriptionColorless non-lead glass; blown, cut, engraved. (a) Large ovoid bowl with cut panels at the top and bottom; engraved continuous scene of mermaids, and sea goddesses, with polished bands of "water" below; stem composed of a disk above a panel-cut conical knop, a disk, a panel-cut inverted baluster, and a basal disk; spreading circular foot, panel-cut, and decorated with engraved scrolls and leaves; rough pontil mark. (b) Domed, circular shape with cut, tapered, inset flange; panel-cut at top and bottom, with an engraved scroll and foliage band matching that on the base of (a); facet-cut finial composed of a true baluster at top, a disk, a flattened ball knop; and a disk; rough pontil mark.
